Actually, you shouldn't have to. Instead, copy back from the backup to the original. The backup has corrected, legal dates and when you copy that back to the source it'll have fixed dates, too....

It sounds like the files on the source have bad/illegal dates that couldn't be copied. Did any come from Windows?
