Disk Utility just doesn't seem to like .sparseimage, so I am using Disk Utility to convert it to a .dmg. Then I will try to restore from that .dmg image.

Still no luck using the "asr" command in the terminal application on the OS 10.5 install DVD.

The "sudo" command is not recognized, and using "asr" without "sudo" did not work.

Very frustrating.

Interesting...as you suggested I did check the "erase" box on the Disk Utility Restore page...and it worked. It also took much less time to copy the mounted sparse image onto the destination drive......

I attempted to restore my hard drive from its sparse image made by SuperDuper using Smart Update and stored on a USB Drobo.
