Error Halting Backup
Would appreciate any help.
Trying to make a backup copy of my boot drive onto an external lacie firewire drive. Ran SD and got an error halting backup message. Should I stop running all applications when I try to clone the drive? (I was playing some music, surfing the web, and copying over some other files onto a different partition). Here's the relevant logfile info. |11:19:44 PM|Info| WARNING: Caught I/O exception(5): Input/output error |11:19:44 PM|Info| WARNING: Source: /Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket, lstat(): 0 |11:19:44 PM|Info| WARNING: Target: /Volumes/Backup3/Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket, lstat(): 0 |11:19:44 PM|Info| Logging attributes for item: /Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket of type: 8 |11:19:44 PM|Info| Type: |11:19:44 PM|Info| Creator: |11:19:44 PM|Info| kIsOnDesk: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kColor: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kIsShared: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kHasNoINITs: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kHasBeenInited: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kHasCustomIcon: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kIsStationery: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kNameLocked: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kHasBundle: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kIsInvisible: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| kIsAlias: NO |11:19:44 PM|Info| Error copying /Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket to /Volumes/Backup3/Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket of type 8 |11:19:44 PM|Error| SVUclone: Error: Couldn't create |11:19:44 PM|Error| : Input/output error |11:19:44 PM|Error| SVUclone: Error copying /Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket to /Volumes/Backup3/Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket of type 8 |11:19:44 PM|Error| : Input/output error |
might have found problem
as I noticed in some of the other posts, the problem seemed to be with the file. I ended up just deleting the file/directory since I can live without growl and am currently trying the clone again. I did happen to look at the general (not super duper) console log and found this (which could explain what the problem with the file was)
2005-10-04 10:07:09.487 System Preferences[495] Tried to init a ticket from this file, but it isn't a ticket file: /Users/jimmy/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/SpamSieve.growlTicket If I am understanding this correctly, the file says it's a growl ticket, but it isn't recognized as one - it's probably a corrupted ticket file. |
That's right -- it's a corrupt file. You've got it exactly -- probably on a bad spot on the drive.
