Backup script not working in Snow Leopard
I had a script (actually an action in iCal) that worked perfectly in Leopard. After upgrading to Snow Leopard and the lastest SuperDuper! I re-created the scheduled backup and the symbolic link. But now iCal says there is a problem because the symbolic link file cannot be found. I even changed the name of the file just to make sure I selected the correct file in iCal.

Not sure what to suggest here: why are you using iCal rather than our scheduler?
|
Because I want to make sure that SuperDuper! runs. I have discovered in the past that my machines has not already been on when it came time to do a backup. I wrote in the past and asked if there was some way to connect the scheduler in SuperDuper! with Macaroni. You wrote back and said no but referred me to another possible solution - topic "Can I use SuperDuper! 2.0 with my Maxtor OneTouch Button?". You said that by adding the symboic link file as an action in iCal I could achieve the result I wanted. An aside, I have wondered why I could not use Macaroni to open the symbolic file?

Ah, right, I remember our previous discussion.
It should still work, though. Did you try running the link by double-clicking it in Finder? |
Ah, no it doesn't work. And I know I followed the instructions correctly (I think.) One thing I noticed this time when I made the symbolic link is that the alias has the name I gave it in the terminal command and not "Copy Job" like it was under Leopard and the previous SuperDuper!.
|
I'm pretty sure you must not have, if it doesn't work...
|
Ok Dave, I re-did the alias. I then launched it in Finder. SuperDuper! opens and the Scheduled Copies window opens but then nothing happens.
PS should we be taking this off line - not sure if anyone else would be interested in this topic |
Yes - send email to support.
