/Volumes/Backup3? Ackward
Hello.
I was running a backup a week ago and a few errors popped up and I quickly ignored them. Before I know it my backup drive went from mounting as /Volumes/Backup to now being /Volumes/Backup 3/ . The errors that popped up were write fail errors for some reason, I think my computer went to sleep during the backup process. The worst part of it all is that now on my mac when I view invisible files I have directories : /Volumes/Backup/ (6.28 gigs in size) /Voumes/Backup 1/ (8ks in size) /Voumes/Backup 2/ (6ks in size) These directories exist even though NO external drives are plugged in. I tried deleting the directories from the finder but it wont let me because of permissions. I do not know why they are still sitting there and taking up my space. Are they safe to remove? And how can I remove them? Super duper is the only backup system I use on my mac, and I have never had Norton installed. Thank You Luke |
You've had multiple external drive failures, Luke. You'll need to delete all three of those folders -- it should prompt you to authorize, but then you'll be able to delete them.
The big question is, why is your drive failing over and over. What brand/model is it? Anything else on FireWire with it? |
