One basic question about backups in superduper
 

I am wondering for quite a while now; is it necessary to quit all running programms in osx (like smartreport that might poll hds' smart status), pause timemachine (that it is not starting a backup while the other backup is running) and so on. I stopped all that each time i do a backup so far to take care. But would it be also possible to do backups with all those programms still running? Best regards k:d

In general, you shouldn't run programs with big files, or write data. So, don't run Parallels, VMWare, Entourage, things like that. Don't download files (including iTunes songs/podcasts/videos), and don't run BitTorrent.
