Two questions
1. Do sparse images get crufty?
Is there a limit on how many times I should update a sparse image using Smart Update? Should I periodically delete it and start with a fresh one? 2. How can you tell which settings document the scheduled backup uses? I run a backup. I click File->Save As... and save my settings. I set up some different settings (different destination/volume etc.) and save those settings. How do I explicitly associate a given settings collection with a given scheduled backup event? For that matter, how can I even tell which settings the scheduled backup is using? Thanks! |
Crufty? Not any more than a drive gets crufty, really. They can get large, though, and need compacting -- you can do that by running the Terminal command:
Code:
hdiutil compact the-image-path Each scheduled backup uses a settings document whose name is the same as the name of the schedule. You'll find them in the "Scheduled Copies" folder in Library/Application Support/SuperDuper! off your Home. If you based the schedule on some existing settings, those settings are *copied* to a new scheduled copy -- the settings are not shared. |
