Is the "Shared Folder" backed-up?

The guide says that when using - Sandbox-shared users & applications - that changes made to all home folders will be automatically reflected on the other.

Does that include the Shared Folder in the Users folder?
I keep some files in it so that everybody has access.

Yes, all of the folders under /Users are shared, including "Shared".
