Reverting to Mavericks from backup?

Against my better judgement, I updated to Sierra from Mavericks and it's turned out to be a disaster. My MacBook Air is ridiculously sluggish, I can't log in to one of my primary accounts, and I'm getting random freezes and beach balls of death.

Immediately prior to updating, I used SuperDuper to back up all files to an external drive. I'd like to restore the backup to my MacBook Air and rid myself of Sierra.

Assuming this is possible, is there a recommended way of doing this?

Thanks!

A disaster seems weird, given my experience, but, well, OK.

You can start up from the backup and restore normally, with "Restore - all files" and "Erase, then copy" (which would be fastest, given the number of files you'd probably have to delete).

Hope that helps.

Thanks as always for the quick reply. I'm back up on Mavericks. :)

Disaster may be a bit dramatic, but I could not get Sierra to log in with my primary user account, which is where all my photos, documents, music, etc. was, and I couldn't find an easy solution on the Web. Combine that with general sluggishness and then an inexplicable system freeze, and I decided I'd seen enough. Maybe a 1.8 GHz MacBook Air just doesn't have the horsepower to drive Sierra. I don't know. I'll probably just wait until I buy a new laptop loaded with Sierra or its successor to make the transition.
