SD backup to new iMac
 

About to lash out on a new iMac, roil on WWDC hopefully. Used SD to backup Lion on a Mac Pro and removed the backup drive to a USB2 external dock. iMac will arrive, one imagines, loaded with Lion.

Cannot use transfer information or Migration Assistant as the backup drive is not in another computer connected by Firewire etc. Thinking of connecting the backup, booting from it, and cloning to the iMac drive.

Any foreseeable problems please Dave?

You can, and should, migrate at first startup, as explained in the "I have a new Mac..." FAQ. Use the "Volume attached to this Mac" option and everything should work fine.
