SD images restored with ASR Issue?

I noticed in the user manual that it mentions that an image can be restored using ASR. However, according to http://blog.plasticsfuture.org/2006/...tware-harmful/ even though SD was excellent, ASR in file level copy is inferior. Since SD uses file level copy, would that not also mean that using ASR to restore a file level copy of an image by SD would be flawed?

A file-level restore with ASR would, indeed, be subject to whatever issues ASR had in the version that was being used. Leopard's has improved significantly.

At http://forums.bombich.com/viewtopic.php?p=55231#55231 Mike says that the file level mode of ASR still has problems though. Perhaps the documentation should be updated to mention this?

In general, if you can restore with SD!, you should... and I think that's pretty clear in the User's Guide. We don't generally mention all the various bits and bobs of metadata in our documentation...

Is there any specific, up-to-date info about those problems that might be*worth mentioning in SD! documentation?

The problem is, any specifics I might mention in the documentation could change at any time, as Apple improves ASR/Disk Utility...

For me an easy-to-update thread under the Frequently Asked Questions subforum would suffice, if you ever happened to get around to it (i.e. no priority/urgency).
