yet another of those newb ?'s

hi--looks like just the product i should have been using for years!

already easily created a backup and am now consideering the addition of the safety clone. please review my plan and critique:

my computer is G5 single 1.6 with 80 HD; ocw 400 firewire HD which i have partioned into 80, 60 (for future Powerbook backup), 20 (sandbox), and the remainder to data. I will create safety clone on ocw drive (better than on G5 HD?) and reboot from that partition and then proceed to work as if nothing had changed. i will update/add applications to sandbox and after i am certain they are not causing me probvlems i will reboot from resident HD and update/add at that site. Then i will reboot from sandbox and continue to use it as a "buffer" from corrupting the resident HD.

I am not clear why/when i need to update sandbox as everything i am doing is in that environment and has been done "to" it befroe being added to Mac HD. It is clear why i need to regularly update the backup.

so, if the plan seems correct then the questions i need answered seem to be:

safety clone on ocw firewire drive?

why/when do i update the safety clone?

thanks for the product and the assist.

Hi, kjo. Let's see if I can straighten this out a little.

The reason to update the Sandbox is to convert the applications installed on the original drive to shared applications. Otherwise, they take up space on the Sandbox unnecessarily. It's not strictly necessary, but is a good idea.

The clone on the FW drive should work fine!
