How to schedule backups from two internal drives to one external

Hi there

I'm sure I can't be the first one to ask this, but a search came up empty. If it's already been answered please feel free to just point me in the right direction...

I recently replaced the optical drive in a 2009 iMac with a new SSD, so I now have the original HD repurposed as an archive drive, and boot from the new SSD.

I have an external HD with two partitions, and would like to schedule backups of the iMac's two internal drives onto the two external HD partitions. AFAIK the Scheduled Copies function is only intended for one backup or "job", right?

So I'm guessing I'll have to use scripts to somehow achieve this, but I've very little experience with Applescript.

Can anyone advise the best way to approach this?

Thanks!

Well, this is actually discussed in the User's Guide. You can have as many schedules as you'd like. I don't know why you'd think it's intended for only one "job".
