Using SD to rollback/restore only some application/driver

I did a backup with SD about a week ago. I run OS X update and it installed WWAN support update 1.0. Now it crash badly when I insert the WWAN card. Is it possible to use SD to check what is change and rollback/restore semi manually to before the update ?

This is exactly the kind of thing that a Sandbox is great for, but unfortunately it doesn't sound like you're running from one.

You'd really have to restore from the backup... rolling back "some" drivers would be hard because it's hard to know what's really different. You could look at the receipt that it installed and try to figure it out from there, but it's not for the faint of heart.

Thank you for the fast response.

Is it possible to run the smartupdate part only to produce a diff report that I can use to figure out what driver changed ?

Thanks great product.

It isn't, unfortunately, no. There *are* some tools that can do "difference" comparisons of folders, though: head over to Version Tracker and you should be able to find something appropriate.

Note -- if you're comfortable in Terminal, take a look at the man page for "lsbom", since it'll be able to provide you with the installed items, given a receipt/bill of materials for an update... that'll probably be the easiest way to deal.

I'd also actually contact Apple... they might have a fix.
