Using BookPro clone-> install on iMac.

I can't find exactly what I need with the search function, so i hope someone can help.

I have a Dec.2008 Core2Duo BookPro, running 10.5.6.
I have a Feb.2007 Core2Duo iMac, and a Leopard Install disk bought in 2008.
My external drive is WesternDigital 'My Passport Studio'. (Firewire)

I want to use a clone of the newer BookPro, to be installed on my older iMac. I had my iMAc Hard Drive replaced by Apple, and they installed Leopard from their own disc. Their install seems to be a little messed up. The user Guides file is missing, and some other files are in places that differ from my BookPro. I want my iMac to be more synchronized with my BookPro.
Is it possible to use the BookPro clone on my iMac? If so, some guidance would be appreciated.

Yes, you should be able to restore that to the other Mac, if you'd like... just start up from the backup and restore to the internal using Smart Update.

Thanks for a quick answer. I hate to sound like a noob, but I am. How do I access smart update?

This is how I thought to do this install on another machine from the clone..

Hook up the firewire external drive with the clone.
Open System Preferences and click 'startup disk'.
Choose the external drive and click restart.

No?

Well, no, that's how you restart from the backup. You'll then open SuperDuper!, select the source and destination, "Backup - all files" as the script and -- in Options, under "During Copy", use Smart Update.

So i ...
Hook up the firewire external drive with the clone.
Open System Preferences and click 'startup disk'.
Choose the external drive....

and then open Super Duper and use Smart update?
Thanks for your help and patience.

Yes, that's generally correct.
