Mac Help quits w/Sandbox

I've come to the conclusion that Mac Help is not fully functional when Sandbox is the boot volume. If for example I click on "Mac Help", then click on "Look up topics easily", select "Q", click on "Quick Time", then click on one of the listed choices, the Help Viewer quits, every time. This doesn't happen if Mac HD (source) is the boot partition. I've tried resetting SMU, NVRAM, and PRAM, no help. Is there a fix for this? Dale Meyn.

It sounds like the Help Viewer doesn't deal properly with a shared Home folder on your system. You could try to "outsmart" it by changing your Netinfo database on the Sandbox (only). Basically, you'd start Netinfo Manager, then navigate to your user (/users/your-user-name).

Then, change the home key to the "real" path on the original drive. For example, mine is:

home /Users/dnanian

I'd need to change it to

home /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/dnanian

You'd then need to restart.

Well, that wasn't it. I made the change, from "home/Users/dalemeyn" to "home/Volumes/Mac HD/dalemeyn", restarted, same problem. Actually, I don't have any shared users, just me and my computer here. Must be something else? Dale Meyn.

Well, if that's really what you did, it wouldn't work. It'd have to be /Volumes/Mac HD/Users/dalemeyn. But, if that's not it, it could just be that Mac Help doesn't work on a Sandbox.

If you'd like, you can send me one of the crash logs (to the support email address), but not likely anything I can do...

That was a typo. This is a direct click-copy of what I changed it to:
"home/Volumes/Mac HD/Users/dalemeyn". I just now re-did the whole thing to make sure it didn't work. I guess nobody else has ever had this problem with Mac Help? It's only on Sandbox. I tried Mac Help with Backup as boot volume, works all the way. I can use Mac Help by using its Search window instead of the index, but have to make some good guesses. I'll try to send you the crash log, even if you can't do anything with it, just to give you the information. Thanks for responding promptly. Dale Meyn.

I think you just want it to be "/Volumes/Mac HD/Users/dalemeyn"
