how can multiple users mount to a sparseimage at the same time?

Hello,

Can someone tell me how multiple users can mount and use a sparseimage found on a network drive at the same time? In our network setup every user has to be able to mount the sparseimage even when another user already did mount the image.

When the first user mounts the sparseimage everything works well but all the other users receive a message ' the resource in temporarily unavaibable' when they try to mount to the same sparseimage file after that.

How can this issue be solved?

You can't really use the same image for multiple systems: why are you trying to?

We want to have all files centralized on a server so each user can find the last version of a file on the backupdrive. A backup will be made every night from 4 different machines.

A backup of the backup will be made to a second drive in case something happens to the first. Right now every user can mount and copy files from the sparseimage but only by selecting the mounted image through the first user connected. We thought there would be a better way. But it looks like there isn't....

You really need to store each machine in its own image... those images can all be in the same folder on the network drive, but you can't put the files in the same image.
