SuperDuper and Maxtor

I just purchased a Maxtor, 300 GB external Hard drive with Firewire and USB. I have an iMac, OS X 10.4.8. I copied my HD last night using the firewire and apparently it went all right. On one of the Mac forums they told me that SuperDuper was the way to go (Maybe I should have bought SuperDuper prior to copying for the first time). In looking at the software for the Maxtor, it does not seem that different, at first glance. I am a complete novice to this and feel I should buy superduper and use it, even if I do not know what I am doing, keeping it simple is a necessity, LOL.
I would appreciate any input, instructions, how to's, advice, and where I should go from this point.

Have you taken a look at the User's Guide, cowtrail? There's quite a bit of info and guidance in there...

Are you referring to the User's guide for SD or Maxtor? I did not get a User's Guide with the Maxtor, just a Quick install reference. I searched their web site and could not find a downloadable one from there for my model.

Ah, sorry, no. The User's Guide for SuperDuper! :)

My external HD is bad. The Company is exchanging it, I have had nothing but problems. I'll start over with a new HD.

OK, Cowtrail -- let us know how it goes.

Got my new External HD (Maxtor). Installed it using SD, worked like a charm, 1 Hr from start to finish as opposed to 15 hours with numerous problems!
Thanks!

Much better! :D
