How would I do this? (I don't think I want to hear the answer, though)

I now have 2 G5 iMacs -- one in my main home and one in my summer place. Using SD and and an external firewire drive, I keep both machines up-to-date, by carrying the external back and forth and running SD into the required machine.

IF I get a new Intel Mac, can I still do this??

Yeah, you can't really just do that. You'd basically need to have two Macs of the same CPU. You could clean install and migrate from the backup each time, but that would likely be more of a hassle. Possible, though.
