Creating Sandbox partition in new macbook pro
Just got a new MBP installed with Lion and getting ready to back up Lion on an external to put MLion on main HD.
I've been reading that I should be able to create a sandbox partition without erasing the main HD first, using the slider in disk utility...just checking to see if that's really ok. Also I see that Lion is occupying about 15gb so I'm wondering if I should make the SBox partition around 25gb...? I've been using SD for 7 years as a prosumer and it has been working flawlessly (maybe I don't know enough to mess stuff up) This is my 3rd copy and I'm so thankful to have it. |
Yes, you should be able to do that.
You may want to try to create the Sandbox on a regular drive first, just to see how much space it's going to take. Thanks for the kind words! |
Well, I'm not worried about using up too much space - i'd rather allocate too much - so if I just doubled it - surely that would be enough or maybe did 35gb...?

Again, I have no idea how much space your Sandbox will take up. I'd really create it on a much too large partition to get a good idea.
