OS boots from USB drive, but all applications crash
Hi,
this is my big problem. I want to upgrade the HDD of my MacBook, so I cloned everything to an external (USB) drive to be able to restore it on the new drive. I've tried both SuperDuper! and CarbonCopyCloner, but the problem is the same: Leopard (10.5.6) boots fine from the external drive (wifi, menu bar items, everything), but any application I open crashes before even showing its window, referring to some invalid operation or kernel protection. I reported the problem to Apple, and posted on Apple forums, but I got no reply and I still have hope that I do not need to wait until 10.5.7 comes out and fixes some issue. If it is not an OS bug, can anybody help me? Thanks. |
Please see the fix at the very top of the forums, iLac.

Thanks!
It really saved my day, and this being Christmas Day, it is a big thing to say. Thanks.
I am just sorry that I did not do my homework to look around carefully. (Honestly, yours was not the first forum I posted on, and I did not delve deep into it before posting. I learnt my lesson.) |
I'm glad I could help, iLac!
