Clone/Restore: RAID-0 -> single drive -> RAID-0 doesn't work

I have cloned a RAID-0 boot drive (10.4.8) of 3x Raptors on my Mac Pro, to both an internal and external FW400 drives.

The Mac can boot fine from either of these drives.

However if I restore that clone back to the RAID-0 boot drive, the system can't boot anymore. I get strings of "Still waiting for root device" messages if I switch to verbose mode when booting.

So how exactly can I do a perfect clone of my RAID-0 boot drive that can be restored back and that can boot?

Note: Super Duper 2.1.3 v80 used

I managed to restore the clone made by Super Duper back to the RAID-0 using the restore feature of Disk Utility and that disk can boot fine now , but I don't know how reliable it is compared to Super Duper...that is if everything got copied back in perfect state.

Disk Utility should work just fine from an SD! copy.

The problem is likely that your "mach_kernel" is split over platters. If you restore with SD! and it won't boot like that, try re-copying (by hand) mach_kernel from the backup to the drive...
