740,000 files on disk EVALUATED to update 2 files in directory

HI
i have a backup script, that relies on the pre-canned "Exclude all file.dset" and has a single 'copy' action for a subdirectory on my Macintosh HD.

the subdirectory has 38 items and is ~43MB total size

i have about 117GB of storage over 740,000 files on the Macintosh HD (as reported by SuperDuper)

Why does superduper have to EVALUATE every single file (all 740,000) just to update the subdirectory (containing 38 items)???

is there a better default/pre-canned script to use to improve this?

alternatively is there a better tool than superduper for backing up discrete subdirectories?

We always evaluate the whole drive, as scripts can be arbitrarily complex, and trying to be overly smart about this kind of thing can get you into situations that are much harder to test. On top of that, we're primarily designed to copy entire volumes...

It really shouldn't take more than a few minutes to evaluate those files, though.

what a shame that i spent 25 euro just to find out that rsync does a far better job for what i want

ChronoSync is great for specific folders

SuperDuper! is ideal for backing up whole volumes. However, when I'm interested in just a specific folder, ChronoSync quickly syncs that folder with a another folder on any volume (including the source volume).
