Backing up Mac and Win data
Just purchased a MacBook Pro and am using Parallels to run Win XP. I've been looking for a solution to back up my data and came across superduper. I'm looking at purchasing a mobile hard drive by LaCie and I was hoping to back up my Mac data and Windows data on this one drive. Is that possible using superduper? Do I have to do something to the HD to be able to back up data from both operating systems on the same drive?

As long as you're storing your Parallels data on your regular HFS+ volume (as an image) -- it'll copy just fine. We cannot copy BootCamp partitions, though.
(Make sure you're NOT running Parallels when you make your copy, of course.) |
Thanks so much for helping. Please forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by 'regular HFS+ volume (as an image)'. Also, we were considering switching to boot camp at some point - will this eventually support boot camp?

The native OSX disk format is "HFS+". That's how "Macintosh HD" is formatted. Parallels will normally store its data on that drive, as opposed to in a Boot Camp volume.
We're not likely to support Windows formats in the short term. |
