Catalina and T2 Chip Question
I am running a new Mac Pro (2019) that has the T2 security chip.
I am running macOS Catalina 10.15.5, and SuperDuper! 3.3.1 (v121). My question is whether or not I will be able to boot the Mac Pro from the external hard drive where the SuperDuper! backup is located - connected via Thunderbolt. I understand from another software vendor (SoftRaid) that to be able to boot the Mac Pro with the T2 security chip from an external hard drive that I will have to restart the Mac Pro into Recovery Mode and disable secure boot. Do you know anything about this? Thanks, Stan |
You have to turn on the ability to boot from external devices in the security utility (in Recovery), but otherwise it should boot fine. (Note that 10.15.5 has other issues; see http://www.shirt-pocket.blog).

Thanks for the quick reply Dave. Catalina is certainly presenting its challenges.

Indeed. As they say, "interesting times".
