updating OSX versions from sandbox
I am wondering if I can update 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 in Sandbox, then to my main HD.......and can I update 10.8.5 to 10.9 in Sandbox, then to my main HD or do I have to update to 10.9 on main HD first, then copy to Sandbox

No, you can update to 10.9 in the Sandbox...that's how seed testers do testing, for example.

thanks for such a quick reply - I'm not sure exactly what u mean - no I can't update in Sandbox in either OSs first, then copy to main HD, or yes I can...sorry not a techie

You asked whether you had to update to 10.9 locally, then Sandbox. What I said was no, you don't have to update to 10.9 then Sandbox. You can install 10.9 in the sandbox - if you want to roll back to 10.8.5 if you don't like it.
Otherwise, why would you be using the Sandbox, right? |
thanks for your patience Dave - I thought I remembered in the past having to update HD first when major versions came out.....

Well, major updates make more changes. And you shouldn't do this if you aren't trying to roll back to 10.8.5 - a real 'test' of 10.9.
If you're just trying to do a 10.9 install, you should install to the real drive. |
thank you - I will install 10.9 to HD first - what about 10.8.4 to .5?
I greatly appreciate your fabulous support |
That's fine too - you can readily Sandbox minor OS updates.
