Schedule Question

Is there any way to set up SuperDuper to use a specific backup every other week? I know you can select, for example, week 1 and 3, but there are months where part of the month falls into the 5th week and I'm not sure how SD handles these things. It would be really nice if it were possible to schedule alternating weeks regardless of how those weeks relate to the month, especially if one is using 2 backup drives alternating weekly.

Not possible at the moment, sorry.

(The 4th and 5th weeks are combined, actually -- and our weeks are defined by day [since that's what the system scheduler allows]: 1-7, 8-14, etc.)

Any chance of the scheduling feature getting updated to work in this manner? It would be much nicer to be able to schedule backup rotations that occur on specific days (like every Monday) rather than by date, because the day that the 1st, 8th,15th, etc falls on is constantly changing.

Not given the way "cron" (the system scheduler) works -- it doesn't allow us to go by anything but day "numbers".

If, in the future, we write our own low-level scheduler it's possible that this will be supported, though I have no date (or promise) something like that will happen.

Alas

Well, thanks for the info and may I cast one enthusiastic vote for writing your own scheduler? It would be much easier to include SD in an enterprise backup system if the scheduling could be done in this manner.

Vote noted, mjj.
