Making a Bootable Backup

I have a Mac Mini (PowerPC). I am using SuperDuper (version 2.1.2) on my Mac (version 10.4.8). I am backing up to a Acomdata 320 Gig Firewire Drive. The backup runs fine and completes, but I can't boot from it. It says that it is making the backup bootable, but I can't boot to it and the folder icons of the backup don't have any images (ie. the system folder lacks the X and the library folder lacks the books etc), I'm not sure if this means anything.
How can I use SuperDuper to make the backup bootable?

If you use Disk Utility to select the drive and then look at the bottom right side of the window, what does it say for the "Partition Scheme"?

It says "Partition Scheme : Master Boot Record"

OK. Master Boot Record is a Windows partitioning scheme, and it won't work as a startup volume.

Use Disk Utility's "Partition" tab to repartition, using the "Apple Partition Map" scheme. Then, repeat the backup and you should get further...
