SuperDuper and FileVault'ed folders
 

Hi,
I use the OS X FileVault capability to have my home directory encrypted.

My home directory contains a great deal of data, as well as a number of Parallels virtual machines, and thus, the encrypted image representing this vault is quite large (around 60 GB).

When I use SuperDuper, my home directory is backed up as the encrypted image and not as the unencrypted tree of folders. This means that if I make a tiny change to one file, the image changes and SuperDuper must backup this entire multi-GB file, taking a huge amount of times (several hours).

Do you have any advice on how to manage the situation? If possible, I would like to retain the FileVault capabilities.

Not if you want to retain FileVault on the destination, no. But if it's OK to break your backup into "system" and "user" information, you can back up the FileVault volume, which appears in your source pop-up, separately to its own volume...
