Ode to SuperDuper

OK, not really an "ode," since I'm not that creative. But I just need to say that SD is the most indispensable app available for a Mac. It saved me first a few years ago when the HD on my PowerBook failed. During the week it took Apple to replace my HD, I continued happily working on a Mac Mini without missing a beat, thanks to my SD Clone. At this very moment, I'm working on a PC while SD restores to a brand new HD I just installed on my MB Pro.

I have SD on a schedule to SmartUpdate every night while I sleep, so I know that I've always got an up-to-date clone in the event of a HD failure. The peace of mind and ease of restore that SD gives me is reason alone for anyone to switch to Mac. There are acceptable backup options for Windows (I use Acronis' Disk Image), but there's nothing that compares with SD IMO. SD is worth its weight in gold -- even more since it weighs nothing!

And, I'm not a relative, friend or even an acquaintance of Dave's!

Hi! I agree but I'd add a note that having DiskWarrior is also a "must have" to repair hard drive problems and always remember that if the clone occurs right after a system has become unstable and the clone gets written with data from an unstable system then both the main drive and the backup drive are corrupt. I know a lot of people who swear by DW, but I've never needed it. I'm sure it's terrific, but remember: When your hard drive fails physically, software utilities aren't going to help.
