Network backup scenario ...

Hi,

I have an iMac Intel networked through ethernet with another iMac G5 (running Tiger ?). I have a FW800 drive with 2 partitions connected to my Intel machine.

Can I do a full bootable duplication of each computers to my FW800 's partitions ?

Can I also do a full bootable duplication of my G5 to a sparse image located on my Intel machine ?

Regards.

No, you cannot make a (directly) bootable copy over a network. You can store in an image on the other volume, but you'll have to restore that (as explained in the User's Guide) before you can start up from it.

Make sure you initialize the drive properly as explained in Help > Frequently Asked Questions! :)

Do I understand, that SD will be able to do a full duplication of the networked G5 machine to a sparse disk image located on the second partition of the FW800 drive connected to my Intel machine ?

Yes, to a sparse image or bundle.

This being said, what do I do to see «Macintosh HD» on my networked G5 as a possible source for SD ? :o:o:o

You have to push the backup from the G5 to the Intel Mac: you can't "pull" a backup from a networked source.

I see ... Can I use the same SD registration for both computers ?

It's not a family license, if that's the question. But if both are yours, used primarily by you, you're not required to purchase two licenses (though we certainly appreciate it when people do).

I understand ... Thanks for your honesty ...
