New Harddisk - How to restore?
couldn't find anser in faq - is there a good howto?
mbp 3,1 cheers m |
It's in the User's Guide - "Recovering from a disaster" (obviously, too cleverly worded by half).
Basically, start up from the backup and use SuperDuper! to copy from the backup back to the original drive. |
Hi Dave
Thanks! I found that before, but still wasn't sure what to do excatly, you pretty much just say "boot from backup drive and perform the restore". I guess, since transferring to a new disk is a rather delicate operation for somebody who hasn't done this before, I would prefer a step-by-step guide on how to do it. But I think I figured it out: I booted from the backup USB-Drive, went to Disk-Utility to format the new drive "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", then launched SuperDuper! and chose "Restore - All files". It has copied 10% so far... If this does the Job, then TWO THUMBS UP for SuperDuper! :) If you find the time, I think a FAQ in the forum on how to do this would help many others. Cheers mario |
Make sure you partition properly (see the topmost FAQ)...

Everything went smoothly - Great thing, glad I chose SuperDuper!
