Hi ...my first post here !

I have just purchased a new 400Gb drive for the iMac and I want some advice on installation. I intend to copy the exisiting internal drive to the external drive and then boot from the external and copy back the image from the external to the new internal. Is this a smart way to do this ?

If so - what type of image or copy should I be selecting from SuperDuper. I would really appreciate some guidance here.

Thanks a lot

Charles

Sure, Charles.

Name both the internal and external drives the same ("Macintosh HD" or whatever you're using).

Then, use "Backup - all files" to copy from the internal to the external.

Boot from the external, and make sure everything's the way you want it to be.

Once you're sure, swap the drives, then, use SuperDuper! to do "Backup - all files" back from the external to the internal (once again, named the same).

Finally, shut down, detach the external and start up from the internal.

That should work great!
