SuperDuper Superiority to Restore?

Running OSX 10.4.11, I'm wondering about the difference between SD!s backup it produces as opposed to the Restore option in Disk Utility. In SD, i just use the simple erase and copy method, rather than a smart update or the like. Also, I'm making my bootable backup out of a sparse image, that way i have no need to partition my external hard drive while utilizing maximum space. Can Restore handle this operation?

I have no intentions of getting rid of SuperDuper because it is such a great program with a simple UI. I just want to add this little nugget to my mac knowledge.

Thanks!
