MacMini Clone not bootable

I cloned my macMini (G4, 1.25 GHz, OS X 10.4.10) to a partition on an external hard-drive (Elephant Storage. 250 GB). I am not able to startup from the cloned partition. I suspect it has to do with the partition scheme, which is GUID Partition Table. I partitioned the external drive when it was connected to my MacBook (2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.4.10), because I used this external hard drive mainly with my MacBook. I suspect the failure of the clone to boot is because it needs to be formated with Apple Partition Map. Is it possible to have partitions on the same hard drive with different partition schemes? Or should I give up with this hard drive and use my other one which is usually connected to my G4 iMac?

That's right: you'd need to use Apple Partition Map as the partition scheme if you want to use it with a Power PC based Macintosh.

A given partition scheme is used for all partitions. Apple Partition Map can be used for both Intel and Power PC Macs (for an external drive). GUID can only be used for Intel.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion. Reformating all the partitions on the external HD with Apple Partition Map. The speed of your responses continues to amaze me!!!
