iDefrag-Still the way to go?

Both my Mid-2012 15" MacBook Pro with 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 and my iMac have become so sluggish. I hate to beat a dead horse, but the prevailing wisdom seems to be that OSX defrags as it needs to when it needs to. But it also seems that files can eventually just not be in the optimal position on the HD.

So is iDefrag still the best solution rather than simply cloning and restoring my internal HD to an external HD using SuperDuper?
