SandBox Advantage

Reading about Sandbox. I'm confused about it's advantage over a regular backup volume. I am DEFINITELY a non-geek here, so I've probably misread something.

Here's the User Manual-

<<<< You can safely install any system updates, drivers or programs in the Sandbox, without worrying about what might happen to your system. If anything goes wrong, you can simply start up from the original system. SuperDuper has preserved it in its original, pre-disaster state – but all your new and changed personal documents are totally up to date. . . . >>>>

'Assuming' that a system problem is why I can't boot/run the original drive, if I've done system updates on the sandbox, won't it have the same problems?

Can you expand on
" . . . If anything goes wrong, you can simply start up from the original system."

Do you mean- If anything goes wrong with sandbox? But if I'm using sandbox, doesn't that mean I already have a problem with the "original system" ?

Thanks for listening,

Rich

No, if you've been running on the Sandbox, it has its own copy of the system. That's the point - modifications to the system are isolated on the Sandbox.
