backing up other user's home directory

Hello,

I recently added a 2nd user to my Mac. I'm an admin on the Mac. The new user is a standard user.

If I try using the finder to look inside the other user's directories, they are not available to me. (red "no" symbol) That's fine.

If I run SD within my Admin account, will the other user's directories be backed up? Will their file permssions be retained?

I did a backup of the Mac and even though I cannot view the other user's directories on the Mac, I can indeed see them on the backup. That seems to indicate the file permissions might have changed. I haven't done a restore, but if I did, would the file permissions be like they were on the Mac?

In general, I'm a bit confused as to how SD can backup another user's directories, if I can't access them.

Please advise.

Thanks
