Copy error

This morning I did a Smart Update of an already cloned external FW drive. Later today I did another Smart Update but got this error message:

| 10:18:20 AM | Error | SDCopy: FTS_NS error for item: '/Volumes/FW 2 20060503' err: 6, Device not configured

Should I just try again?

Thank you,

David

An "FTS_NS" error means that the drive specified (FW 2 20060503) was improperly disconnected from the computer, either by unplugging or through failure. You should definitely restart your Mac before continuing, since that's the only way to clean that particular error up.

I restarted as you suggested and had no further problem with the next Smart Update.

I didn't unplug the drive during the failed update, so aside from the fact that the drive could be on its way out, the only other thing I can think of is that the drive's FW port could be intermittent or that there could have been a temporary power failure during the update.

Thank you,

David

Quite possibly, yes -- it's something to keep an eye on, David!
