LaCie porsche design HD

I noticed an earlier thread regarding a user's experience with the LaCie porsche design HD. I think you inferred these might have problems.
I just bought the mobile Firewire/USB model, which I plan to back up Tiger to soon, using Firewire.
Can you suggest what precautions to take...any special configs?

Thanks!

We're getting conflicting reports about the Porsche Design units. Some people are having no problems, some are having weird issues.

LaCie claims that the drive shouldn't be used with Journaling, and that helped one user, so you might want to give that a shot.

I'd also suggest trying to install OSX to it directly, before doing a backup, to see it it'll boot that way. If so, the backup should boot too.

Hope that helps...
