Backup saved to SparseImage over Network, How do I restore?

Hello I'm James and I'm looking for some help please.

I have a MacBook that I use to connect over LAN to a MacMini (which is used as a replacement for a CD player). I want to do a full System backup of the MacMini but I have ran into a couple of problems. As you'll know, I can not use SuperDuper on the MacBook to backup the MacMini so I have had to use VNC on the MacBook to control SuperDuper running on the MacMini, Which has saved the Backup Image to the MacBook (It's making my head hurt). It's not ideal but it's something I can (Just about) live with.

The main problem, Is how do restore that image to the MacMini if I have a problem. I can't use Disk Utility on the MacMini when booted because it won't restore to the drive it's booted off, and as far as I can see when I boot from the Mac OS X Install Disk I can't get access to the Backup Image as it on the MacBook.

Do you have any Ideas as to what I can do to solve the problem or am I just doing it all wrong.

You'd want to put the mini into FireWire target disk mode (T during boot) and then restore it from the MacBook over FireWire.

Thats a good idea, no a great idea. I can just sit the MacBook next to the MacMini if I ever have a problem. Thanks

I don't suppose you have any more ideas as to making the backup process more efficient/easier.

Well, remember that once you schedule the copy, you won't have to use VNC: it'll all happen pretty much automatically.
