Copy Scripts And Smart Update

I use Backup-all files to make fully bootable backups of my system about once a week. I've installed 10.5.2 and would rather keep the 10.5.1 bootable on the backup disk for a little bit longer, but would like to update the user files there. Does using the Backup-user files script work for this? Or will that script delete the system files? Thanks in advance, Alex.

It'd delete the system files, Alex...
