Restore from Super Duper and Time machine?

My hard drive crashed unceremoniously a few days ago with my backups in the following state:

- Super Duper: about a month old
- Time Machine: about a couple days old

I'm sure Time Machine has done a fine job with my User data - music, etc. What I'm actually more concerned about is whether Time Machine saves the state of my unix environment - for example, I've installed some programs to /opt/local using ports. And as a ruby developer, I installed a bunch of libraries as "gems" to /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8.

These all appear to be fine in Super Duper (I'm using it as a bootable drive right now), but it's an older backup. Is it crazy to consider restoring from Super Duper and then using Time Machine to restore ontop of that?
