Update to Tiger (I know we're late...)

I'd like to update the OS on the main drive. Then update my version of SD and then, if nothing goes wrong, back-up, which would update the backups.

I've just added a new backup drive so I can fit the new internal drive when it fills up : I've got

Two 750 GB FW drives external.

1 TB (boot drive) and 400 GB internal

I'm planning to erase and partition the 1TB drive, recover the information from the backup with SD and then do the same with the 400 so I can reformat the second FW drive so everything fits (two partitions on two FW drives for the 1TB, one last partition for the 400)

I was going to do this before installing Tiger, since everything seems to be working with Panther. Then update SD then do a backup to get everything up to date and in Tiger. Does that make sense?

One more question - my second drive isn't a boot drive and it isn't journaled, can / should it be bootable and can / should it be journaled if it isn't a boot drive?

Thanks for any suggestions!
