I backed up to this external drive (my offsite backup) last Wednesday. Today I fire up SD and it says it can't find the target volume. (note the volume is mounted, visible and I can navigate it). ...

I have 250GB of disk space used out of 300GB on my Mac Book Pro. Running Snow Leopard but this behavior was identical on Leopard.
