Mounting too slow for SD

I recently upgraded to Lion. Backing up a couple of drives to sparseimages (is that the right word?) on a Drobo which contains other stuff too.

Before the upgrade, the computer started up, did its backups then shut down again. All fine.

Now under Lion, by the time it's started up, mounted the Drobo, then mounted the backup images, SD has timed out. Which means that if I leave the computer running, especially with the images mounted, everything is fine. But the whole point of a timed backup is that I don't have to leave the computer on.

Any suggestions on how to improve this situation?

Timed out? Please send me a log, using "send to shirt pocket", of the failure. We don't have any timeouts for mounting...

Hmm. That's interesting. There's nothing at all in the log. Though the backup time has come and gone, and nothing is backed up.

This is what I did. I shut down the computer and went away till well after the scheduled backup. It's meant to shut down the computer when it finishes. When I came back the computer was still on. SuperDuper wasn't active. I started SuperDuper manually and went to the Schedule window. No log from tonight, no backup done. It seems that SD started the computer and mounted the Drobo but didn't manage to do anything else.

Merely hitting Copy Now started the backup properly.

Mysterious.

I suppose the next step is to watch what happens at the scheduled time. Something's wrong somewhere.

That's weird because SuperDuper! doesn't start the computer (as explained in the Scheduling sectio of the User's GUide)...

Thanks and apologies. I'd forgotten what was doing which. Having SD scheduled to run 2 hours BEFORE the computer switches on for the backup won't help. I'm cautiously optimistic that that's the problem.

If it fails again I'll sit with it and watch what it's up to.

Sorry to waste your time, and thanks for the help.
