Booting from external: GUID partitioned, HFS+ (with FAT32 neighbor)
hi all,
I can't seem to boot from the backup partition i just made on my external. I'm on a Macbook Pro, and I partitioned using GUID. I have one 75GB HFS+ Partition (which I use SuperDuper to back up into), and allocate the remaining 220GB to a FAT32 so I can share files with my Windows machine. http://secretdomainname.com/du1.png http://secretdomainname.com/du2.png http://secretdomainname.com/du3.png http://secretdomainname.com/du4.png I boot up with the drive plugged in, and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? |
What kind of drive is this? When you say "you boot with the drive plugged in", have you tried Option+Booting to see if it shows up as a choice?

it's a Maxtor 320GB external USB2 drive.
oh i see, do i have to hold option to boot from an external? :) |
Yeah, hold down Option and then select the external from the list that appears. :)
