Just a real quick question

Hi there,

Just a quick nooby question. How would I transfer a cloned HD from an external HD onto my internal HD on my Mac.

So for example I just wiped my iMac's internal HD and would just like to "place" my cloned system on the external HD onto my iMac's internal drive.

Thanks in advance,

snverhallen

You would follow the steps to "Recover from a disaster" in the User's Guide, snverhallen...

Thank you, I know it was a stupid question, but it's nice hearing it from someone who knows their stuff because as you can understand I don't wanna mess around with doing backups incorrectly.

So just to clarify I just restore?

Yep, it's just a restore.

Reverse of using a Clone?

Dave: Then... one should NEVER use a "clone" volume (say on an external B/U drive) & simply "copy" it, ala SD!, to a blank Internal volume?

I did not know about SD!'s 'Restore' option...

Cheers, JIm B

A "Backup - all files" and a "Restore - all files" will both "restore". The latter ensures that you don't copy back your Time Machine backups, if they're on the same volume. That's the only difference.
