Feature Request - REAL network backup

I've tried using the network backup "solution" offered in 2.1.3v80, which creates a "sparse disk image" and yes, it does work - sort of. It's at best a workaround for an essential missing feature.

I should be able to target a network connected computer's actual folder, and synchronize directly to that folder.

I need to copy my /Library/Mail folder from my desktop Mac to my laptop Mac. The folder is over 9GB, and SuperDuper COULD be a great solution if Smart Backup to a network drive folder was possible.

Comments?

In general, backup to an image isn't really a workaround: it's a backup. You're doing something quite different than backing up, which is why it doesn't work well for you.

What I'd suggest is using an IMAP mail server. That's the best way to keep mail synchronized between two Macs.

Trying to do this by syncing the data folders with an external program is asking for trouble as storage formats change and become more complex (or move)...
