Shutting down in scheduled backups

Hi Dave,

If I've got three scheduled backups running at:

1am
2am
3am

...and I've asked SD to shut down after the 2am job, will it wait until the 3rd job's finished or will that 3rd job never run?

Sorry if this is an odd question, but the idea is that my machine will always turn off once a backup's complete, and the 1st and 3rd jobs are weekly as opposed to nightly.

Hope that makes sense :)

Regards,
Ben

The 3rd job will never run. So, set the 1st and 3rd jobs to both run at 1am, then set the 2nd to, say, 1:05. The first two (1am) should run, then the other, which will shut down.

Thanks for the speedy response!

I think I need to clarify what I'd like, though, because I don't think that'd give me what I'm after:

Job1: Nightly job for important files to Disk01 and my iPod.
Job2: Weekly job for not-so-important files to Disk01 only.
Job3: Weekly job to Smart Update all files from Disk01 to Disk02 after Job2 has completed.

Shut down the machine every night (including when Jobs 2 & 3 aren't running).

Is there an easy way of doing this, or do I need two different scheduled versions of Job1 to cover the one night of the week that I *don't* want it to shut down immediately?

Do you really need to shut down, as opposed to just letting the Mac go to sleep?

Sleep'd be ok, but off'd be better :)

Are you suggesting that I schedule the shutdown/sleep in Energy Saver prefs or that I have it sleep after a period of inactivity?

I think you can do what you want with multiple schedules, but just letting it naturally go to sleep after 15 minutes (or whatever) would be easiest.

Cool. Thanks for the help, Dave :)
